DASA UG 2017DASA UG 2017 - The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar will be the coordinating institution of the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA). Under the scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, DASA UG 2017 provides admission to all foreign students in the undergraduate engineering programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other Centrally Funded & Premier Technical Institutes. There are around 45 participating institutes under DASA UG 2017. The foreign engineering aspirants will have to fill and submit an online application form which will be available tentatively in April, 2017. After submitting the DASA 2017 UG online application form, the applicants will also have to submit their SAT subject test score at the NIT, Srinagar through College Board, USA.  Admissions will be done on the basis of the SAT scores of the applicants. Seats will be allotted on the basis of the applicant’s merit and preference of seats. DASA UG 2017 offers admission to foreign nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). The application forms will be available only in online mode. Submission of the application form has to be done tentatively by June 2017. The DASA UG 2017 applicants will also have to submit their SAT scores tentatively by June 2017.

DASA UG Important Dates 2017


The online registration of DASA UG 2017 is scheduled to start tentatively in the month of April 2017, The admission committee of DASA 2017 UG has still not released the official admission dates. The list of dates will let the aspirant engineering applicants know when the events related to the admission process may start.

DASA UG Eligibility Criteria 2017


The applicants who wish to get alloted under DASA UG 2017 will have to fulfil some criteria which has been set by the admission committee. Different criteria related to age, nationality and academics will have to be met by the applicants. In case the applicant fails to meet any of the eligibility criteria, then he/she will not be allowed to participate in the admission procedure.

  • Nationality: The applicants should be Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin/Overseas Citizen of India who have completed their qualifying examination in any country (including India). Indian national who have been studying abroad ( must have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) exam from outside India) are also eligible for admission.

  • Age: Should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.

  • Educational Qualifications: The applicant must have qualified 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with Physics, Mathematics and one of the three subjects from (Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology. 60% aggregate marks or 6.50 CGPA should have been secured by the applicants in the qualifying examination. Finally, the applicant should have a minimum total valid score of 1440 in SAT Subject Tests (Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry).

DASA UG 2017 Application Procedure


To be eligible for the admission procedure of DASA UG 2017, the applicants will have to successfully register themselves. The application form of DASA UG 2017 will be available in online mode for all applicants tentatively in the month of April. No other mode of application will be available. Before filling the application form, all applicants are requested to read the eligibility criteria. Valid personal and academic information will have to be submitted in the application form. Scanned copies of the applicant’s photograph, signature and relevant documents will also have to be uploaded in the application form. Payment of the required application fees will also have to be done. Last day for submission of the online application form will be tentatively in June 2017.

DASA UG 2017 Application Fees


The applicants will be required to pay the application fees and first semester tuition fees while registering themselves for admissions. The fees will have to be paid either by E-Payment or SWIFT transfer. All applicants will have to pay the required fees. Failure to pay the fees will lead to the rejection of the application form. Payment of fees can be done through SWIFT transfer at The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited, India or E-Payment i.e., credit card or debit card.

DASA UG Merit List 2017


The admission committee will prepare a merit list consisting of the eligible applicants on the basis of total SAT Subject Test scores only. Those applicants whose valid SAT Subject Test scores were received by NIT, Srinagar before the last date directly from the College Board will be eligible for the merit list and seat allotment procedure.


In case, two or more applicants have secured the same SAT Subject Test scores, then the inter se merit of the applicant will be determined using the following procedure:

  • By Marks obtained in SAT Subject Test for Mathematics Level 2 followed by Physics.

  • If the tie is still not broken, then the applicant who is older in age will be given preference.

DASA UG Seat Allotment 2017


All admissions under DASA UG 2017 will be done based on the merit of the applicant. Those applicants who have been listed in the merit list will be allotted seats as per their preference selected in the application form and availability of seat. Higher the applicant in the merit list, the higher priority he/she will get during allotment process. The list of the applicants and their allotted institute will be released online. No individual allotment letters/email will be sent to the selected applicants. The applicants who are allotted their first choice will have the option of accepting or declining the allotted seat. Up-gradation of seats will be another option which will be provided to those applicants who were allotted any choice of course. The applicants will have to confirm their allotted choices within the specified time. Failure to do so will lead to the disqualification of the applicant.


After the four rounds of allotment session are over, the applicants will have to report at their allotted institute for admission. Verification of documents and medical fitness test will be conducted at the institute to confirm the admission.
