JoSAA 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want admission through JoSAA counselling must be aware of the eligibility criteria for JoSAA 2026, as it differs for each type of institute and some courses too. By knowing the JoSAA eligibility criteria 2026 ahead of time, candidates will be able to know the institutes they can opt for admission. Ineligible candidates will not be allotted any seats.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2026 for JEE Main

• Must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination with at least five subjects. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, along with one of chemistry/biology/biotechnology/technical vocational subjects as optional subjects.

• As per JoSAA per cent criteria, for general category candidates, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks is required for admission to IIIT, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. For reserved categories, the aggregate mark to be secured is 65%. Candidates must come under the top 20th percentile of their board to be eligible for admission.

• The candidates should meet the JEE Main 2026 cutoff. However, this does not guarantee admissions.

JoSAA 2026 Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced

• The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2026 must be fulfilled by the candidates.

• Must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination with at least five subjects. Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry are compulsory subjects along with one language and another subject. • General category candidates must have a minimum of 75% to 65% aggregate marks or not, and for reserved categories, the aggregate mark to be secured is 65% or below for admissions into IITs.

• Also, the candidates should be among the top 250,000 qualified candidates of the JEE Main 2026.

• For higher chances of admission, the JEE Advanced 2026 cutoff should be met by the candidates.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2026 for JEE Advanced (Preparatory Courses at IITs)

• Candidates should belong to the SC/ST/PwD category since only these category candidates will be accepted.

• Should meet the JEE Advanced eligibility criteria.

The participating institutes also have their specific criteria, so the candidates are advised to check them. Restrictions to the courses that the candidates are applying for should be checked. Details related to course restrictions that candidates must consider while applying for the admission process will be released by the authorities.

JoSAA Registration and Choice Filling 2026

The authority will start the JoSAA 2026 registration and choice filling on June 2. Qualified candidates of IIT JEE Main and JEE Advanced are eligible to register and fill out their choices for colleges and courses. The list of options will be displayed depending on the eligibility of the candidates. Candidates will be able to log in using their JEE Mains 2026 registration number and JEE Main/Advanced password.
