KCET 2024 eligibility criteria comprise of age limit, domicile, KCET eligibility marks, educational qualifications, and nativity. All applicants must meet the KCET eligibility criteria 2024 to be considered for admission. The ineligibility of any candidate will lead to the cancellation of his/her candidature. The Karnataka Examination Authority is conducting the Karnataka CET 2024 in offline pen & paper mode on April 18 and 19. The KCET eligibility criteria are divided into two main categories which include educational qualification and nativity. Candidates can check the KCET exam eligibility criteria 2024 below.
Candidates applying for KCET 2024 must be a citizen of India.
Candidates must have passed their class 12/PUC examination. Candidates who have appeared in their class 12/PUC examination in 2024 and waiting for their results can also apply for the KCET exam.
Students who have passed their qualifying examination/class 12/PUC from Karnataka State Open University are NOT eligible to apply for KCET 2024.
Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in their class 12 along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study
Applicant should have studied in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN academic years commencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC / 12th standard as of 1st July 2024 and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from Karnataka State.
Candidates should have studied and passed either the 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard exam within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government and either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years.
A candidate who is the son or daughter of defence personnel who has worked continuously in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year in Karnataka during the Two years of study of candidates in PUC / 11th and 12th Standard course.
Wards of serving or retired employee in the Central Armed Police Force Service, whose parents at the time of joining the CAPF Service (Central Armed Police Force) had mentioned that his/her home town was in Karnataka, has to submit proof of his/her domicile from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit where the Parent’s service record is maintained. In this category, the candidates must have cleared the qualifying examination from a recognized University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India.

Candidates fulfilling the below KCET eligibility criteria are also eligible for government seats.
Candidates who are children of migrants of Jammu and Kashmir are required to show proof of migration which they can get from the jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India.
Candidates whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava must have resided and studied for a duration of 7 years between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Solapur or Akkalkot or Jeth or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State. Such candidates will have to undergo and clear the Kannada Language test.
Students who have studied 10 academic years in the Kannada language from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka need not appear for the Kannada Language Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Such candidates must have studied and passed the qualifying exam from any recognized educational institution.
Children of Members of Parliament who are representing Karnataka must have cleared high school from any institution located in any part of India.

In case a candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of the Union Government or an employee of the Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking and his/her parents are likely to be transferred to any part of the country and have worked in Karnataka for a minimum period of 1 year in Karnataka during the 2 year period i.e. 11th and 12th standard of the candidate.
