About course

While Biotechnology is the discipline which combines Biology and technology, Biochemical Engineering mainly deals with the design and construction of unit processes that involve biological organisms or molecules. It is an applied science and the subjects studied under this branch include Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics and Engineering. Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make useful products.  The sub fields of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering include genomics, applied immunology, development of pharmaceutical therapies and diagnostic tests to name a few. This discipline has its applications in health care, crop production and agriculture, crops and other products and environmental uses. Biochemical engineering is taught as a supplementary option to chemical engineering o biological engineering owing to the similarity in the discipline. This discipline is an amalgamation of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering.
