Transport to the site is not easily available, with rented vehicles being the alternative to reach the centre from Delhi. Staff buses of the Solar Energy Centre are available at fixed times to reach the centre, you can use facility of bus at no charge

Solar energy centre is a research and technology evaluation facility of the ministry of New and renewable Energy (MNRE) with the mandate to develop and promote solar energy. It was established in 1982.
It is also the testing and certification center of India which certifies the solar application devices (Both thermal and photovoltaic).The centre has the requisite equipment, laboratories, and other associated facilities for design, development, testing, and evaluation.
The centre is located at Gurgaon in Haryana, around 40 to 50 km from New Delhi. Centre is located on a gently sloping site covering about 200 acres in a suburban setting.

I completed this internship after 6th semester as a compulsory training. Duration of my internship was 60 days.

Generally they prefer M.Tech and B.tech (3rd year ) student but you can also apply after 2nd year.
As it is a govt organization you have to put your effort for the learning but if try with dedication you can perform any project work with the help of project fellows already working there.
As the climate is hot and dry with summer temperatures reaching as high as 45 degrees C (max.) you will face some difficulties in the plant field. There are all the instrument and facilities available which are first and very latest .You will learn all concepts and applications in solar field with the facilities installed at center.

Working in Solar Energy Center (SEC) will also help you for the MS admission in foreign universities.
Technology/Domain/Type of work I did:
Initially I invested my lot of time to learn basic concept and modern technology in the environment of SEC. Then I learned about testing procedure for solar modules and other equipment.
After getting sufficient knowledge I worked on PV grid. In that group we were 6 members. We first extracted data from inverters connected to PV array. By analyzing the data we have finally compared the different PV array characteristic.
There is no stipend for the undergraduate students. If you apply for the project fellow after graduation ,you will be provided a stipend.
Accommodation facilities in SEC is very luxury and cheap. The cost of accommodation is around 25/- day in which you will be provided a attached bathroom, an ac common hall, a refrigerator, TV, newspaper facility and also washing machine.
You can have your lunch, dinner (35/- diet ) and breakfast at SEC and also outside at SEC.
Accommodation is provided on first come first service basis. Otherwise you have to manage your accommodation in nearby village or gurgaon/delhi.
