The admissions to undergraduate courses in Engineering and Medical Institutions are going to be a much easier process from the year of 2013 if everything goes according tot he plans. From the next year onwards the students have to write only one Engineering and Medical Entrance exam from next year onwards.
However, the IIT aspirants still have to give two engineering entrance exams for admission in IITs. The IITs adopted the new admission procedure in this year as per the HRD plans as per which the students have to give two entrance tests for admissions in IITs. One of them will be called as JEE Main and the other will be called as JEE Advanced.
Also the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana have agreed to this new admission scheme for admission in State Engineering Colleges. The Private and State Engineering Colleges have to give a minimum of 40% weightage to the Board Marks in order to adapt the new admission policy. A number of Deemed to be Universities have also agreed to the new admission policy for the Engineering colleges.
For admissions in Medical Colleges the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be organizing the National Eligibility Entrance Test, NEET 2013 on the 5th of May 2013. The students will be given admissions in various Medical and Dental Colleges on the basis of the merit lists. It is being expected that a total number of 10 lakh students are going to participate in NEET 2013. The 355 Medical Colleges are going to accept the NEET 2013 scores.
NEET 2013 is going to be conducted in Hindi, English and other Regional Languages in which the test was being conducted earlier. Also, the test will continue to obey the earlier laws and regulations of reservation in the states and territories.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has already announced the NEET 2013 Syllabus.
