IIT Roorkee rejects 263 GATE 2017 applications
IIT Roorkee, the organizing institute for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017, has rejected as many as 263 applications who applied to appear in the national level entrance exam. These applicants do not have the requisite educational qualification to appear in GATE 2017. Hence, their applications have been rejected. Apart from that, the conducting IIT has also released the list of candidates, who are considered provisionally eligible to appear for the test. However, the final decision on the eligibility will be taken by the conducting body at exam centre wherein these applicants need to produce eligibility/category certificate (as applicable and marked as defective in an earlier mail). At the exam centre, the certificate needs to be handed over to the GATE officials.

Further, as per IIT Roorkee officials, candidates whose enrollment ID is not in any of these lists need not bring any proof of their eligibility to the examination hall. All GATE 2017 applicants must check both the lists to know their status.

For GATE 2017 applicants, IIT Roorkee has also made available mock tests for all 23 papers. For taking the GATE Mock Test 2017, the login and password fields will be disabled. Candidates just need to click on the “sign in” button to start the test. The Mock Test can be terminated anytime by them if they wish to. The system will log out after 180 minutes in accordance with the actual exam rules.

IIT Roorkee will conduct the national level engineering entrance test on February 4, 5, 11 and 12 for PSU recruitments and admissions to M.Tech programmes at IITs and NITs. Availability of admit card on the online application interface for printing is scheduled for January 5. Every year, more than 8 lakh candidates appear for GATE. In 2016, as many as 9,71,831 candidates applied for the entrance exam, out of which 8,18,850 actually appeared in the test.
