GATE Cutoff 2025 - IIT Roorkee has published the GATE 2025 cutoff on the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The subject-wise GATE cutoff 2025 for all 30 papers has been updated on this page. The authority also determines the GATE 2025 cutoff category-wise. The GATE result 2025 was declared on March 19, 2025. The cutoff is the minimum score required to clear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Students who qualify for the GATE 2025 exam are eligible for admission to IITs, NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Each institute will release the admission cutoffs after each round of the COAP 2025 counselling. The GATE qualifying cutoff is different from the admission cutoff of different institutes. GATE 2025 Cutoff
Candidates can check the cutoff for GATE 2025 on this page. GATE cutoff 2025 will be available for EC, CS, MA, DA, PH, CH, MN and all other papers. It is important to note that two types of cutoffs will be released for the GATE exam: the qualifying GATE 2025 cutoff and the admission cutoff for GATE 2025. The differences between the qualifying and admission cutoff marks 2025 of GATE are specified below.
GATE 2025 Qualifying Cutoff Vs GATE 2025 Admission Cutoff: Students appearing in GATE must know the difference between the GATE qualifying cutoff 2025 and GATE 2025 admission cutoff.
- GATE Qualifying Cutoff 2025: The GATE 2025 qualifying cutoff is the minimum mark required by the candidates to qualify for the GATE exam. Hence, candidates who clear the GATE 2025 qualifying cutoff will be eligible to participate in the GATE COAP 2025 counselling. GATE qualifying cutoff marks 2025, will be different for all 30 subjects. Qualifying GATE cut-off for IIT and NIT will also vary as per the different categories of candidates. The GATE qualifying cutoff is released by the conducting institute along with the declaration of the result.
- GATE 2025 Admission Cutoff: GATE cutoff 2025 is the minimum qualifying score that candidates require to gain admission to the participating institutes. The cutoff score of GATE enables candidates to gain a seat in the desired institute. The admission cutoff of GATE 2025 will be released by the institute at the time of admission in which admission is desired.
GATE 2025 Opening & Closing Ranks
GATE cutoff marks for IIT and NIT will be released in the form of opening and closing ranks. After the declaration of GATE results, IITs and NITs will start the MTech admission process separately. The admission is done through JoSAA 2025 counselling. After the application and interview, institutes will release the GATE opening and closing rank.

GATE Cutoff Analysis (2021 vs 2020)
On analysing the GATE cutoff for the year 2021 and 2020; the cutoffs for most of the subjects were decreased from the previous year. For example, the GATE cutoff for CSE was 28.5 in 2020 while it decreased to 26.1 in 2021. Seeing the trend, candidates can predict the GATE CSE 2023 expected cutoff.
GATE Cutoff Analysis (2020 vs 2019)
The analysis given below depicts the changes in the qualifying GATE Cutoff 2020 vs 2019. The official GATE result statistics have announced that only 18.8% of candidates have qualified in the exam. There have been many surprises in the GATE cutoffs, with many showing a drastic lowering and some showing an increase. Only Mathematics has shown no changes in the GATE cutoff.
